The scientists said the secret to shrink your waist with chewing food for 30 seconds before swallowing. Research shows that this has a strong effect on appetite, because it can limit the desire to eat chocolate, sweets and snacks that can accumulate a lot of fat.
Research by psychologists at the University of Birmingham involves participants who munch their lunch in this way. The result, they note normally takes half the amount of snacks in the afternoon.
Although previous studies have shown that chewing longer capable of restricting calorie intake while eating, the researchers now want to assess how much longer chew at lunch could influence the habit of snacking in the afternoon.
One reason why this might work, by concentrating so much on the process of eating, our brain "remembers" a longer lunch and will tend to reduce the signal to snack more soon after lunch.
